This Institute, commonly referred as Kapili, was started functioning in 1995 with 1 UG & 1 PG Art’s (HNR)  Programmes under the administrative control of Higher and Education, Govt. of Assam. The Institute is affiliated to Assam Silchar University. Within a short span of time, KAPILI has established its own identity not only in the Anglong region but also in the Assam State. The students of high caliber are the backbones of the Institute. It has been imparting higher education (FYUGP) Arts to the students of rural backward and Hills area. The College is running under Assam University, Silchar (A Central University constituted by an Act of Parliament in 1994). It was granted permission and affiliation by Assam University, Silchar Vide its letter No.AUD/C-51/97/053 dated 31-05-1997. The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) also accorded concurrence to the college vide letter No.KAAC/Edn/Affiliation-11/18/A/4584 (A) dated 26/11/1997. The Government of Assam accorded Concurrence in 2013 vide its letter no. AHE/481/2012/26 Dated 19/03/2013.
This is the only Higher Educational Institution situated in Kheroni Phelangpi area of West Karbi Anglong in a plot of 35 Bighas of Land covering a vast area about a 50 fifty Sq. Km. radius (Approx) from its centre Kheroni. The motto of the institution is “Transformation Through Education”. A well equipped infrastructure facility is abundant. The KAAC fulfils all the requirement of infrastructure after inspecting it in every year. The College has been producing a good number of human resources since its inception.
NEP 2020 in the Degree Courses starts from the Academic Session 2023-2024 onwards as per the”AUS FYUG PROGRAM REGULATIONS, 2023 under NEP 2020″
